Our commitment
Jennifer Dane is committed to making buycharlestonsc.com accessible to the widest possible audience, including people who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnifiers, and keyboard-only navigation. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and 2.2 at Level AA, the standard widely recognized for making web content accessible to people with disabilities.
Measures we take
To support an accessible experience, this site is built with the following in mind:
- Semantic HTML that gives content a clear, logical structure for assistive technologies.
- A skip-to-content link so keyboard and screen reader users can bypass the navigation.
- Navigation and interactive controls that can be operated with a keyboard, with visible focus indicators.
- Color choices intended to provide sufficient contrast between text and its background.
- Alternative text on meaningful images, and decorative graphics marked so they are skipped by screen readers.
- Support for reduced-motion preferences, so animations are minimized for visitors who request it.
- Form fields with clear, programmatically associated labels.
Ongoing effort
Accessibility is an ongoing effort rather than a one-time task. We review the site over time and work to improve it. Some third-party tools or older, legacy content may not yet fully conform to our target standard. Where that is the case, we work to address it and to offer an accessible alternative on request.
